Welcome to the Alden House

This is a blog about my life both before and after the day my world was turned upside down when our son, Fynn Riley, was born sleeping.

December 7, 2019 is a day that I will always remember as being the both a joyous day and sad day in my life. Even a year later and we don’t have anymore answers than we did that day but I do know one thing. I will keep going because he would want me to and because life is too short to dwell in sadness.

Thus, the name of Sailboats and Unicorns. Sailboats because that is what we decorate Fynn’s nursery in and Unicorns because they are Madilynn’s favorite.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives me the space to talk my issues out
  • Because it will help others to talk about the things that they want to do with their lives
  • Because I want to show the world that I haven’t stopped living

This blog will serve as a journal of the things I have done or will do. It will also give others a safe space to talk about things like infant loss, intimacy in marriage and their own endeavors.

“If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot.” ~ Stephen King

I intend to read and write a lot about different subjects that inspire me. I want to do a blog because I want to write what I am feeling. It is a great start to what I am trying to convey.

Hopefully you all will feel comfortable enough to join me and take on new adventures that will broaden your horizons and knowledge in this crazy world we live in. Welcome and I hope you enjoy.

  2. Happy Birthday Baby Fynn! Sending love and prayers to you and your family Sonnee! I admire your bravery in owning your healing process and for offering a safe space for others to do the same. So many grieve in complete silence and isolation and are overdue for an outlet.

I’m here for you!! Love you! ❤️
